Community to have its say on Boat Harbour upgrades

Michael Ferguson,Minister for Infrastructure and Transport

The Hodgman Liberal Government is committed to improving safety on our roads, with our record $3.6 billion Infrastructure Program.

Community consultation for proposed safety upgrades on Bass Highway at Boat Harbour is now open.

The upgrades will provide safer access to and from Boat Harbour Primary School, Dobsons Lane, Fists Lane and the Boat Harbour store. We are determined to improve the safety and traffic flow on this section of Bass Highway.

The Bass Highway serves as an important freight and passenger route, carrying significant numbers of heavy vehicles, as well as tourist and local traffic.

Our proposed works include the installation of a median turning lane to shelter turning traffic, realignment and widening of the highway, and junction improvements at Boat Harbour Primary School, Dobsons Lane and Fists Lane.

We want the local North-West community to be closely engaged in these project. The design plan will be on display for feedback at the Waratah-Wynyard Council office in Wynyard, as well as online at

The Boat Harbour Primary School community will also be able to view the plan and provide feedback at the school.

Consultation is open until Monday, 5 August 2019.

Feedback will help to inform the final project design, with works expected to begin later this year.
