Round 8 of the Mobile Black Spot Program (MBSP) will open for applications from industry later this year, providing $55 million in government co-funding to improve mobile phone coverage in disaster-prone locations across Australia.
Opening today, the Project Noticeboard provides local Councillors and State, Territory and Federal Parliamentarians the opportunity to help target funding by identifying potential projects in their local areas.
Community members are encouraged to speak to their local representatives to help identify priority areas.
The Project Noticeboard will close three weeks after the MBSP Round 8 opens for applications.
Under the MBSP to date, government funding has generated a total investment of more than $1 billion to deliver up to 1,400 new mobile base stations across Australia.
The program is part of the government’s $1.1 billion Better Connectivity Plan for Regional and Rural Australia.
