Crews from across the country will descend on Stawell during October to take part in the Victorian Mine Rescue Competition.
Between 2O and 22 October teams will compete in simulated scenarios testing critical aspects of emergency response, including underground rescue skills, firefighting, first aid and technical rope rescue.
To be held at several locations around Stawell, including Stawell Gold Mine, the competition is an important part of the sector’s preparation to deal with the unlikely event of an emergency at a Victorian mine.
With activities designed to be as realistic as possible the skills of participants are honed through training under the pressure of competition. The event also provides opportunities for mine operators to share their emergency response approaches.
Resources Victoria is pleased to partner with the Minerals Council of Australia (Victoria) to support the 2023 Victorian Mine Rescue Competition.
