A crash involving a fully laden concrete truck has sparked a major compliance operation at a transport company in Rosehill this morning.
About 4pm on Thursday 3 January 2019, a fully laden concrete truck was travelling north along Rooty Hill Road North approaching the intersection of Richmond Road, Dean Park, when it rolled while attempting to negotiate a right turn.
It came to rest on the northern kerb under the M7 overpass.
The driver and passenger sustained minor injuries in the crash. Further inquiries revealed the driver, was on his first full day of driving for the company.
As a result of the incident, Traffic Task Force officers, assisted by inspectors from Roads and Maritime Services (RMS), attended a company on Shirly Street, Rosehill, about 6:30am (Thursday 10 January 2019), where a heavy-vehicle compliance audit was conducted.
A total of 23 vehicles were inspected during the operation, with nine minor defects and three formal warnings issued by RMS Inspectors. These related to defective seating, vehicle lights, number plates, seatbelts, tyres and suspension.
Police conducted six random breath tests and six random drug tests, all of which returned negative results.
