Construction Begins On Glenrowan Solar Farm

VIC Premier

Construction has begun on the Glenrowan Solar Farm, which will generate enough energy to power around 45,000 Australian homes thanks to the Andrews Labor Government’s nation-leading renewable energy targets.

The 102-megawatt (MW) Glenrowan solar farm is the first project supported by the second Victorian Renewable Energy Target Auction (VRET2) to begin construction which will support 150 full-time jobs.

Through VRET2, the Government will bring forward six projects which will provide 623 MW of new renewable generation capacity and up to 365 MW and 600 megawatt-hours (MWh) of new battery energy storage.

These will drive new investment, local employment and help meet our goal to source 100 per cent renewable electricity for all Victorian Government operations by 2025.

The program is expected to support 920 direct jobs and attract $1.48 billion of investment in new renewable energy projects, with strong local content requirements resulting in $1 billion of this being spent in local supply chains during construction.

These projects are part of the Labor Government’s renewable energy target of 95 per cent by 2035 which will create 59,000 clean energy jobs and help us meet net-zero emissions by 2045.
