Construction has begun on the major $18 million upgrade to Greenwood College.

The Cook Labor Government today announced the start of works which will include a brand-new sports hall for students to play basketball, netball, badminton and volleyball.

The new facility will make way for important refurbishments across the secondary school.

The existing sports hall will be refurbished for dance and drama classes, while the current dance space will be transformed into a science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) laboratory.

There will also be a new staffroom for meetings, team building opportunities and professional learning.

Parry and Rosenthal Architects designed the new facilities and Devlyn Australia Pty Ltd are undertaking the construction works. Construction is anticipated to be completed in the third quarter of 2026.

The project is part of the WA Labor Government’s record $4.4 billion education infrastructure program.

Comments attributed to Education Minister Dr Tony Buti:

“We are committed to ensuring students and families have access to great school facilities.

“The new sports hall will cater for the school’s specialist volleyball program and all students from Years 7 to 12 will benefit from these exceptional and modern learning areas offering them the best chance at success.”

As stated by Kingsley MLA Jessica Stojkovski:

“I am proud to have worked with the Greenwood College community to deliver this important project.
