Construction Begins On Mount Lindesay Highway Upgrade

Dept of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications

The upgrade works on Mount Lindesay Highway between Johanna Street and South Street are set to begin, with the construction tender now awarded and construction to commence in November.

‘See Civil’ will carry out the construction works, which will include retaining current on-street parking arrangements and extending the left turn lane at Tamborine Street for improved southbound highway access.

The works will also include removal of the northbound left turn access at the South Street intersection from the Mount Lindesay Highway and maintains the existing left turn access to Jimboomba town centre (near Cerina Circuit).

The Mount Lindesay Highway (Brisbane - Beaudesert), Johanna Street to South Street (Jimboomba) duplication, will improve safety, ease congestion, and reduce travel times by widening the highway from two to four lanes, including construction of a new south bound bridge over the disused rail corridor.

Pedestrians and bike riders will also benefit with new active transport shared paths being installed and upgraded across the project.

The $95 million project is funded by the Australian and Queensland governments, with the Australian Government committing $63.4 million and the Queensland Government committing the remaining $31.6 million.

Early works on the project were completed in late 2022. The Queensland Government has a 10-year plan (2018-2028) for the Mount Lindesay Highway, with construction projects being delivered as funding becomes available.
