The Department of Local Government, Housing and CommunityDevelopment will be releasing a Request for Proposals for the construction ofSocial Housing Head Leased dwellings in Darwin and Tennant Creek next week.
The department will be seeking to increase its publichousing stock by 56 dwellings in Darwin, and a further 12 dwellings in TennantCreek.
Under the social housing head leasing initiative, long-termleases of 10 years will be offered to developers, with an option of a five yearextension. The department will then sub-let to tenants who qualify for socialhousing.
