Construction underway on new Eurobodalla Regional Hospital

It was shovels at the ready today as Premier Chris Minns, Minister for Regional Health Ryan Park, Member for Bega Dr Michael Holland, Health Infrastructure Acting Chief Executive Emma Skulander and our very own Southern CE Marg Bennett teamed up for a milestone sod turn event for the new Eurobodalla Regional Hospital in Moruya.

The new Eurobodalla Regional Hospital has been designed with input from clinicians, staff, and the community, and will cater to the unique needs of the growing and ageing population of the region.

The Eurobodalla Regional Hospital includes:

  • An emergency department with a larger capacity than the current combined emergency services of Moruya and Batemans Bay hospitals
  • Eurobodalla’s first Intensive Care Unit / Close Observation Unit Increased access for chemotherapy treatments and renal dialysis
  • Surgical and operating theatres as well as a day stay surgical unit
  • Expanded medical imaging, including a new Magnetic Resonance Imaging service
  • Ambulatory care for community outpatient services
  • Paediatric and maternity services, and a special care nursery
  • Mental health beds for short term admissions
  • Enhanced education and training facilities, including a simulation laboratory.

The project is estimated to support approximately 600 direct jobs with the potential for supporting thousands of indirect jobs over the life of the project. Construction of the new hospital is expected to be completed in 2027.
