Some of the State’s best local produce and attractions will be beamed across Australia in prime time from Sunday night (July 7) when WA Week kicks off on MasterChef Australia.
Running until Thursday (July 11), contestants will continue to put their culinary skills to the test in challenges at a range of stunning locations around WA, including Optus Stadium which will be the scene of the first WA episode.
Future episodes will showcase Perth’s transformation, the State’s natural beauty and potential road trip routes to explore, with Perth city, the Swan Valley, the Margaret River region and Rottnest Island all featured.
To encourage viewers to travel to the WA locations included in MasterChef Australia, the State Government, through Tourism Western Australia, will launch a campaign partnering with Jetstar to promote affordable airfares, and Helloworld Travel to promote holiday packages to east coast visitors.
MasterChef judge and WA enthusiast, George Calombaris is adding his star power to the campaign which highlights the Swan Valley, Perth and Margaret River and will run until the end of September.
The Helloworld Travel holiday packages will promote the chance to ‘Create Your Own Gourmet Escape’ to east coast visitors, through a variety of WA itineraries featuring either Perth or the Margaret River region.
Each package includes accommodation and local experiences such as watching an AFL game at Optus Stadium, sampling some of the best of Perth’s local food scene as part of an Eat Drink Walk Perth tour, learning more about WA wines on a Swan Valley gourmet wine cruise or indulging in an ultimate food and wine experience in Margaret River.
MasterChef Australia WA Week will air from this Sunday to Thursday at 7.30pm on Network 10 and the WIN Network, with missed episodes also available to view on 10 Play.
The MasterChef Australia episodes starring WA are also expected to be broadcast later this year to more than 120 countries, including a number of Tourism WA’s key markets such as New Zealand, India, Singapore and Malaysia.

As stated by Tourism Minister Paul Papalia:
“This is a real coup for WA that gives invaluable broadcast exposure for our State to a significant number of potential visitors across key east coast and international markets.
“There is plenty to see and do in WA and visitors are sure to have an unforgettable holiday experience whether they choose to travel to the stunning Margaret River region to taste fresh local produce, take a look at our world-class Optus Stadium or get up close with a quokka on Rottnest Island – there is something for everyone.
“Showing off what our State has to offer is also a great way to pique the public’s interest in the expanded Western Australia Gourmet Escape event, which is sure to appeal to food-lovers on the east coast.”
