Conway Street between Kilmore-Lancefield Road and the Kilmore CFA Station will be closed for a 20-day construction blitz in late July and August.
The works will involve the rehabilitation of the road pavement, new underground drainage, construction of indented car parking and new footpaths on both sides of the road to improve pedestrian movement in this busy school precinct.
Current remote learning arrangements as a result of COVID-19 have allowed the works to be brought forward.
Preliminary works started this week (beginning 19/07/2020) with some minor disruptions to traffic. The full closure of Conway Street will take place from 31 July to 20 August to allow for an accelerated construction program. The road closure will cut construction time by more than a month.
Traffic will be detoured using Kilmore-Lancefield Road, Sydney Street, Northern Highway and Rutledge Street. Emergency vehicles including the Kilmore CFA will have full access to Conway Street during the works period.
Council reminds drivers to adhere to the instructions of traffic management controllers for your safety and the safety of road workers.
These important upgrade works are being jointly funded by the State Government and Council through its annual capital program. The works will cost $1.1M.
