The Cook Government has opened the second stage of the $100 million Alkimos College.
Budget for the second stage of the college was $52.2 million, bringing the total of the State’s investment to $100 million. The second stage consists of three new learning blocks and provides space for an additional 700 students. Alkimos College now has a total capacity for 1,450 students.
The existing drama and music rooms have been converted to a professional-quality hospitality kitchen and cafe. The cafe, for students and staff, named the Coastal Coffee Co, enables hospitality students to practice their barista training skills.
Incorporated in the English block, is a new classroom and homeroom for the college’s Specialised Autism Learning Program. Architectural design was undertaken by T&Z Architects and construction completed by EMCO Building in October 2024.
