Cook Government to develop new WA Youth Action Plan

  • Minister for Youth announces development of a new Youth Action Plan to support Western Australians aged 10 to 25
  • Young people and stakeholders invited to have their say
  • The Action Plan will help to improve outcomes for young people in WA

The Cook Labor Government has today announced the development of a new Youth Action Plan – launching a consultation process to support its development.

The Youth Minister is inviting individuals and organisations to get involved and have their say via a consultation paper that has been released to inform the new Youth Action Plan.

The development of a new Youth Action Plan demonstrates the State Government’s commitment to engaging with and providing a voice to young people on matters that relate to them.

Young people account for almost 20 per cent of WA’s population, with 19 per cent living in regional WA.

The State Government recognises the enormous contribution that young people make to the social, cultural and economic fabric of WA.

Any individual or organisation can make a submission or complete the survey in response to the consultation paper.

A series of forums will also be held across WA this year.

Young people and other interested stakeholders are encouraged to have their say by making a submission and subscribing to the Young People Connect WA database available through the following link:

As stated by Youth Minister Simone McGurk:

“Consultation with young people is critical to shaping the new Youth Action Plan and it’s important that we hear from young people with diverse experiences.

“I look forward to hearing from young Western Australians from across the State on the issues they are passionate about.”
