Cool Down And Keep Safe This Summer At Werribee South Beach

Keeping our community safe is a major priority at Wyndham City, so for the fourth year in a row, we have partnered with Life Saving Victoria (LSV) to have Werribee South Beach patrolled during summer.

From Tuesday 26 December until Sunday 28 January 2024, lifeguards from LSV will be on duty from 11.30am until 6.30pm to ensure you, your family and friends keep safe while cooling off during the warmer weather.

Wyndham City’s Community Safety portfolio holder Cr Susan McIntyre said establishing a set of ‘red and yellow flags’ at Werribee South Beach, alongside the delivery of LSV water safety programs, will provide a safe and exciting experience for residents and visitors alike.

“The red and yellow flags are the most important signs on the beach – they mark the safest place to swim. Council knows the importance for the community to feel safe while they are enjoying a day of what Wyndham has to offer and we are excited that we can offer Werribee South Beach as a supervised place to swim these summer holidays,” Cr McIntyre said.

“We are also very excited to share that this year we have multiple Beach and Water safety Education sessions for people with disability and/ or multicultural backgrounds. You can register for these sessions via our website.”

Over the summer period there will be several fun Beach Sessions for all to enjoy including:

  • Tuesday 9 January 2024 – Beach and Water safety Education session
