Coolah Tops ready to reopen

Parts of Coolah Tops ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Park are ready to welcome back visitors after being smashed by a
strong wind and snowstorm in June last year.

³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Parks and Wildlife Service Area Manager John Whittall said the park will reopen in stages,
starting on Friday, 11 February.

“NPWS staff and contractors have worked hard to remove hazards caused when 100 km/h winds
and 15 cm of snow brought down trees and branches and damaged infrastructure during an
unprecedented storm,” Mr Whittall said.

“The western precinct of the park is reopening, enabling visitors to access the Pinnacle Lookout
walk, The Barracks campground, part of The Pines campground and Brackens Hut.

“Work is continuing in other areas of the park, which remain closed while arborists use heavy
machinery to continue the clean-up.

“We thank the public for their patience while we make the park safe again and look forward to
welcoming back visitors.

“I’d also like to remind visitors to stay on the roads and tracks that have been reopened, to ensure
their safety,” Mr Whittall said.

Current access to Coolah Tops ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Park includes:

  • the Forest road to the seasonal gate
  • Hildegard Road to Brackens Hut
  • part of The Pines campground
  • the Barracks campground
  • the Pinnacle Road all the way out to the iconic Bundella lookout
  • the upgraded Pinnacle lookout walk.

Bookings for all campgrounds in NSW national parks is now online. Please check for updates before visiting a park.
