A 46-year-old man had his Porsche impounded after he was caught speeding at nearly double the limit in Bundoora this morning.
Public Order Response Team officers clocked the Porsche allegedly travelling at 155km/h in an 80km/h section of the Ring Road about 9.30am.
Police intercepted the vehicle on Northgate Drive in Thomastown and spoke to the driver, a Doncaster man.
His car has been impounded for 28 days and the driver is expected to be charged on summons with speed dangerous and excessive speed.
The impound forms part of Operation Compass, a state-wide road policing operation that coincides with Melbourne Cup weekend and the easing of travel restrictions.
Police are targeting speed, distraction, fatigue and impaired driving in high-risk areas throughout metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria.
Operation Compass runs until 11.59pm Sunday 7 November 2021.
