There are 379 COVID-19 cases in hospital in Victoria – with 34 active cases in ICU, including 16 on a ventilator, and an additional 30 cleared cases in ICU.
Due to a health service reporting error, today’s earlier number of 451 hospitalisations, should be 379.
5,885,990 vaccine doses have been administered by Victoria’s state-commissioned services, with 8,553 administered yesterday at state-run centres. 215 of the doses administered yesterday were for children aged 5 to 11 years.
53.9 per cent of Victorians aged 18 and over have had three doses of a COVID-19 vaccine. 93.8 per cent of Victorians aged 12 and over have had two doses. 53.5 per cent of Victorians aged between 5 and 11 years have had one dose.
6,935 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded yesterday. This includes:
- 4,329 who tested positive on a Rapid Antigen Test
- 2,606 who returned a positive result on a PCR test.
Sadly, the Department was notified yesterday of 14 deaths of people aged in their 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s. Of these deaths, three occurred in the past two days and a further three occurred in the past week. Five deaths occurred in February and two in late January. One death is a historic case from mid-December last year. This brings the total number of deaths in Victoria since the pandemic began to 2,347.
There are 48,852 active cases in Victoria.
18,519 PCR tests were processed yesterday. The total number of PCR tests performed in Victoria since the pandemic began is 19,309,157.

Some restrictions to ease from 6pm tonight
From 6pm tonight, Friday 18 February, density limits of one person per two square metres in place at hospitality and entertainment venues will be removed. Indoor dancefloors at these venues can also re-open.
QR code check-in requirements will no longer be in place at retail venues, schools (including childcare and early childhood) and for employees at many workplaces. QR code check-in and vaccination check requirements will remain in all ‘vaccinated economy’ settings such as hospitality and entertainment venues.
