The Corowa Aquatic Centre team are happy to announce that our centre will be reopening from 6am tomorrow morning, Tuesday, October 11 after repairs and maintenance were successfully completed under contract by Hines Constructions.
The Corowa Aquatic has been closed for a two-week period to allow for repairs and maintenance works to be undertaken within the indoor pool facility and outdoor splash park. Works undertaken were accounted for under the original contract awarded to Hines Constructions
Federation Council General Manager Adrian Butler thanked patrons and residents for their patience and understanding whilst the important repair and maintenance works were completed.
“The closure was necessary to accommodate Hines Constructions returning to undertake repairs covered under the original contract for the build,” Mr Butler said.
“With any facility, whether new or old, there is always repairs and maintenance works that need to be undertaken and I wish to assure our patrons and guests that in the best interests of public safety and to manage the works effectively, it was deemed appropriate to complete these by closing the facility. Whilst the school holiday period was not ideal for closure, our management team assessed in great detail the best possible time to do these works to minimize disruption. Our team recommended the closure to take place over the recent two-week period so there would no interruption to our Learn to Swim Program, which welcomes over 400 families to the Centre each week during the NSW school terms. I would like to take this opportunity again to thank the community for their understanding and Hines Construction who conducted the works.”
Repairs and maintenance undertaken at the facility included:
– Replacing a number of cracked tiles in the indoor 25m pool. To repair the cracked tiles, the indoor pool was required to be fully drained.
– Remove waterproofing from the guttering and balance tanks for the indoor pool and splash park. The waterproofing was applied in the gutters of the indoor pool and splash park during construction; however, the waterproofing had not worked and has subsequently disintegrated. The removal of the waterproofing was essential because if it remained in the guttering and balance tanks, it would cause issues with the pool plant and equipment. The waterproofing in the gutters for the outdoor 50m pool was not affected.
– Deep cleaning and regular building maintenance.
