Council and the community’s vision to capitalize on the Murray River foreshore in Corowa and activate the offerings of this area is one step closer with the commencement of $2.6 million dollars in infrastructure projects along the Corowa Foreshore.

Funding the projects is the NSW Government $1,859,250 Crown Reserves Infrastructure Funding (CRIF) grant and a co-contribution of $740,750 made by Council in 2021.

To continue raising the profile of the Corowa region, and to ensure that projects being undertaken, particularly in and around the central Corowa Murray River Foreshore are delivered in a strategic and integrated manner, Integrated Site Design were appointed by Council in 2019 to develop a Murray River Foreshore and Surrounds Precinct Plan for Corowa.

Council submitted an application to the Crown Reserves Infrastructure Funding program for 2020/21 to progress works under the Ball Park Precinct Business Development and Masterplan for the Southern Precinct Area of Ball Park.

The following major works will be delivered as part of the Corowa Foreshore Activation Projects: Construction of pathways and pedestrian connections; Bank stabilisation activities; Construction of drainage lines and accessibility features; Tree plantings; and Installation of interpretive signage.

Federation Council Mayor, Cr Patrick Bourke said Council was thrilled to kick start the activation process of the Murray River foreshore in Corowa.

“It is critical to have a strategic lens across this amazing area, an area that is blessed with the amazing Murray River, and surrounding environment including the majestic Red Gums,” he said.

“Council remains committed to ensuring we maximise on this, whilst also delivering facilities that are co-located, complimentary and considerate and take opportunities to share facilities also more strategically where possible. This is an exciting time for local residents and visitors to our region who will be able to enjoy an unprecedented number of upgrades to facilities in this area.”
