Corrective Services NSW officer charged over misconduct offences

A Corrective Services NSW officer has been charged over alleged misconduct in public office.

In July 2019, detectives from the Corrective Services Investigation Unit established Strike Force Sciarra to investigate reports of corrupt activity by a male corrective services officer.

Following extensive investigations, detectives arrested a 29-year-old man at a Silverwater facility about 8am today (Friday 13 March 2020).

Shortly after, an Audi RS3 was searched at the Silverwater, where detectives seized a mobile phone.

A search warrant was also executed at a home in Auburn, where detectives seized two further mobile phones.

The man was taken to Auburn Police Station and charged with three counts of holder of public office misconduct him or herself.

He was granted conditional to appear at Burwood Local Court on Thursday 2 April 2020

Investigations are continuing.
