Councillor Ann-Maree Greaney has been appointed the new Deputy Mayor of Townsville at today’s Special Meeting.
The appointment comes following former Deputy Mayor Paul Jacob voluntarily standing down from the role.
As Deputy Mayor, Cr Greaney will become Acting Mayor while Troy Thompson remains suspended by the Queensland Government. As Acting Mayor, Cr Greaney will be the chairperson of Council meetings.
Cr Greaney will be remunerated for the role commensurate with the Deputy Mayor position during her period as Acting Mayor.
Cr Greaney was elected to Council in 2016 and has 20 years’ experience in local government.
