Yarra Ranges Council has awarded grants totalling $558,000 per year, over the next four years to 40 different arts and community organisations as part of the Partnership Program.
The grants are part of Yarra Ranges Council’s Partnership Program, which provides funding to community groups, organisations and service providers to deliver projects and programs which facilitate community wellbeing, and celebrate the diversity and cultural uniqueness of our region.
Each of the organisations awarded grants- which begin in 2023 and end in March 2027 – plays a part in helping make the Yarra Ranges a thriving vibrant and liveable city with high-quality cultural and creative experiences that all residents can benefit from.
22 community groups and organisations were funded under the Connected and Healthy Stream of Partnership Program and another 18 creative arts organisations and community groups were funded under Creative Community stream.
Yarra Ranges Mayor, Jim Child, said the partnership funding supports programs that run long-term and have a significant benefit to the community.
“The events and services we’ve been able to fund through our Partnership Grants are highlights of the cultural calendar in the Yarra Ranges, or deliver incredible and measurable support for community members,” he said.
“Annual events that draw people in their thousands, programs to help vulnerable people in our community and ideas that improve this beautiful area we live in – the funding available is significant, because the programs we fund deliver far more than their dollar amount back to our community. This is through volunteer time and leveraging other funds.
I’m so glad to see this year’s list include a number of first-time recipients and so many of these are events and project that are far reaching because, we want everyone to benefit from the fantastic cultural opportunities on our doorstep, of which there are many.
Organisations receiving funding for the first time this year through the Creative Communities Partnership Grants included: Badger Creek Women’s Choir, BodyPlaceProject, Millgrove Light Show, Foothills Festival and Chin community projects.
