Willoughby City Council has backed a proposal to advocate for the Sydney Metro Dive Site, at the corner of Pacific Highway and Mowbray Road, to be used for education and open space.
Council has advocated for the return of this site to the public since 2018 and wants all candidates standing for election for Willoughby at the State Election to be aware of its position.
The NSW Government’s call for expressions of interest for a new precinct at the Chatswood dive site presents an opportunity for Council to continue to raise awareness of much needed additional open space and educational facilities for our community.
The revitalised precinct will see the development of new homes, as well as new open public space with some of the area retained for Sydney Metro use.
Both Chatswood Public School and Chatswood High School have reported to exceed their cap over the last few years with enrolment numbers continuing to grow.
Additional education facilities and open space will meet the increasing demand for quality public education and ease pressure on existing schools and open spaces in Chatswood giving every child in Willoughby access to quality education.
