Wingecarribee Shire Council is proud to support ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Water Week (17 – 23 October) this week and help raise awareness about the value of water.
The annual event is hosted by Australia’s biggest water network, the Australian Water Association (AWA), which has this year partnered with the Federal Government to elevate the profile of ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Water Week.
This year’s theme is ‘Our Water Stories’ which encourages everyone to think more deeply about our relationship with water.
Council is the local water authority in the Southern Highlands and provides clean and safe drinking water to approximately 20,000 homes, schools, businesses and industries.
“Access to drinking water is hugely important and it’s up to all of us to protect our water environments and use water wisely,” said Council’s Manager Water Services, Mr Graeme Mellor.
“As well as a social media campaign showcasing Council’s water stories, we’ve organised a range of activities that promote the importance of water.”
“If you’ve ever wondered where your water comes from, join us for a behind-the-scenes tour of the Wingecarribee Water Treatment Plant on Thursday 20 or 27 October,” said Mr Mellor.
