In recognition of ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Child Protection Week (1 – 7 September), Murrindindi Shire Council is celebrating the range of Council services that support children and families in our community, as well as encouraging community members to do their bit to keep children safe.

Council’s (MCH) services provide essential health checks, support, and guidance for families with young children, promoting their physical and emotional well-being.

The (PEEP) programs offer parents and caregivers of children up to 12 months of age valuable resources and activities to foster early childhood development and strengthen family bonds. And our provide preschool children a facilitated program focussed on play as well as offering parents assistance and guidance in the development of their children in readiness for kindergarten programs.

Council’s services offer a safe, nurturing and flexible childcare option, allowing children to thrive in a home-based environment. Our operates three libraries and a mobile library, providing a range of educational programs and resources, to foster a love of learning and literacy among children and families.

In line with the theme of this year’s Child Protection Week, “Every Conversation Matters”, there are a range of actions everyday people can take to create safer and healthier communities for our young people and for everyone.

Actions include checking in with a young person in your life, learning about child protection issues and raising awareness within your networks, join in or volunteer at local events, offer support to young families by way of babysitting, providing meals or just being a listening ear and spend time with the children in your life, listen to them and respect their opinions.
