Coronavirus update
Liverpool City Council libraries in Moorebank, Casula, Green Valley and Miller have been closed until further notice as we closely follow requirements, recommendations and information provided by the NSW and Australian Governments about novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
The Carnes Hill and Central Library remain open but with reduced hours from 10am-4pm and weekend closures.
It is among changes Liverpool City Council is making to a range of its services and facilities, which also affect sporting clubs and those using venues for hire.
“While these changes might be temporarily inconvenient, they will be important in preserving the health of our staff and our community,” Mayor Wendy Waller said.
“Coronavirus is forcing changes to our everyday lives in many ways, right across the world and Liverpool is no exception.
“We appreciate your understanding.”
Libraries
The Moorebank, Casula, Green Valley and Miller Library branches are now closed until further notice.
Liverpool and Carnes Hill branches will remain open but with reduced hours of 10am to 4pm weekdays, and closure on weekends.
Due to Federal Government restrictions, there will be a limit of 100 people at any one time.
All community room bookings are cancelled through April.
Community facilities
Those hiring community venues must comply with the Federal Government ban on non-essential indoor gatherings of 100 people or more.
Where hirers cannot comply with social distancing, self-exclusion and hygiene recommendations, they will also be required to cancel the event.
Sports clubs and park users
Council requires that all sports clubs and park users comply with the direction of their state sporting bodies regarding holding training, match fixtures or other events.
Council will not permit any activity not sanctioned by a sport’s governing body.
If there is no sport-specific direction, clubs should follow Federal and NSW Government direction.
Any outdoor events attracting 500 or more people or indoor events attracting 100 or more people should be cancelled immediately.
Recreation Centres
Council’s leisure centres – including gyms, indoor fitness centres and aquatic centres – will remain open at this time.
Social distancing and hand hygiene requirements will be in force, and ill persons will be excluded.
Hand sanitiser will be provided throughout the venues, in prominent and high-use areas and spaces, surfaces and objects will be regularly cleaned with disinfectant.
Events
A number of Council events have been cancelled or postponed because of novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
