Korean and Australian relations continue to strengthen as the two nations commemorate 60 years of diplomatic ties.
Council will commemorate this significant anniversary with an online exhibition highlighting the history and relationship Penrith City has with Korea.
Council’s spokesperson Karen McKeown OAM, said the anniversary signifies our continued and deepening friendship with Korea.
“Some 27 years ago, on 9 December 1994, Penrith City signed a Mutual Cooperation Agreement with the Gangseo-gu District of Seoul. It’s fitting to acknowledge these two momentous anniversaries and celebrate the special relationship that flourishes between Korea and Australia, and Penrith and Gangseo-gu,” Ms McKeown said.
Residents will have the opportunity to celebrate and commemorate the 60th anniversary by experiencing an interactive and digital photographic exhibition that highlights the history of the relationship.
“Our relationship with Korea has involved great exchanges and growth over the years,” Ms McKeown said.
“Prior to the pandemic, we hosted a Korean Flag Raising ceremony each year to celebrate our friendship agreement. We look forward to reinstating this event when restrictions on public events are more relaxed.”
