Council Launches Nominations for ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Volunteer Week

Devonport City Council is pleased to announce that nominations are now open to acknowledge Devonport volunteers for ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Volunteer Week, scheduled for 20-26 May 2024. This year’s theme, “Something for Everyone,” emphasises the inclusive nature of volunteerism, inviting people from all walks of life to give back to their community.

Acting Mayor of Devonport, Stacey Sheehan, is calling on the community to nominate outstanding local volunteers who have dedicated their time and efforts to the betterment of the city. “Volunteer Week is a time to celebrate and recognise the spirit of volunteering that thrives within Devonport,” Cr Sheehan said.

“Council will once again honour the volunteers with certificates of recognition. These certificates will be awarded to individuals who reside or volunteer in the Devonport area and have actively contributed to the community over the past year.”

Residents are encouraged to submit their nominations via the Devonport City Council website, where the Volunteer Week nomination form is readily accessible. The deadline for nominations is Tuesday, 7 May 2024.

³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Volunteer Week is Australia’s largest annual celebration of volunteers, acknowledging the significant contribution of Australia’s almost six million volunteers who dedicate over 600 million hours to help others each year. From 20 – 26 May 2024, the week will celebrate the substantial contributions of volunteers across the nation.

Devonport City Council encourages the community to acknowledge and celebrate the dedication and hard work of local volunteers. Council proudly supports this annual celebration and looks forward to highlighting the impact of volunteerism in Devonport.
