Delivering on its commitment to buying locally, Council’s upcoming Procurement Roadshow will showcase opportunities for the region’s businesses to get involved in Council projects in the 2022/23 financial year.
The free Procurement Roadshow will provide local businesses with practical information on how to work with Council, including the quoting and tender process, safety requirements and legislation, and what Council looks for when selecting providers.
Opportunities will be available across multiple industries including civil works, building, plumbing and electrical, landscaping, security, fleet, and truck and plant hire, to catering, events, photography and videography, graphic design and web support, and many more.
Local businesses are encouraged to register for the roadshow, which will visit Tara, Miles, Chinchilla and Dalby on Tuesday 9 and Wednesday 10 August.
Spokesperson for Finance, Corporate Services and Business Strategy, Councillor Ian Rasmussen said that the 6th annual Procurement Roadshow was a testament to Council’s ‘live and buy local’ ethos.
“Businesses in the Western Downs are renowned for the quality of products and services they provide, so naturally, we want to take every opportunity to work with locals,” Councillor Rasmussen said.
“The Procurement Roadshow provides a snapshot of what procurement options are available through our upcoming projects and operational delivery, and in turn, enables businesses to communicate directly with us on what they can offer.
“We want to equip our local businesses with the right information on how to work with Council.
“Buying local not only means we can deliver value-for-money results for Council, but that our businesses and industry have the chance to grow and contribute to the long-term economic sustainability of our region.”
