Devonport City Council is honoured to announce that registrations for the ANZAC Day wreath-laying ceremony are now open. This significant event is set to take place at the Victoria Parade Cenotaph on Thursday, April 25th. The commemoration will feature a march from the Senior Citizens’ Club at 10:45 AM, culminating in a respectful wreath-laying ceremony to pay homage to our valiant servicemen and women.
Organisations and individuals desiring to express their respects through the laying of wreaths are warmly invited to register their intention. To ensure a place in the ceremony, participants are asked to register before 5:00 PM on Tuesday, April 23rd.
“ANZAC Day is a cornerstone of our community’s calendar, a day where we come together to honour and remember the sacrifices of those who have served and continue to serve our nation,” Acting Mayor Stacey Sheehan said.
In addition to the wreath-laying ceremony, a Dawn Service will also be held at the Victoria Parade Cenotaph, commencing at 5:45 AM that morning. This provides another opportunity for community members to gather in reflection and remembrance.
“Council extends an invitation to all members of the community to partake in these events, ensuring the legacy of our service heroes continues to be honoured for generations to come.”
The Devonport sub-branch of the Returned and Services League (RSL) has elected its first female President, Ms Shona Kuipers.
