Wingecarribee Shire Council secured more than $26 million in grant funding for the twelve months ending 30 June 2022.
A report presented at Council’s Meeting of Wednesday 17 August 2022 highlighted that Council had received a total of $26.2 million in Commonwealth and State grant funding across 80 non-recurring projects.
“This is a fabulous result for our Shire, our ratepayers and residents,” said Council’s Administrator Viv May PSM.
“It shows that Council’s new Executive Team are working hard to secure much need funds for essential projects.”
Notable grant funding secured for the 12 months ending 30 June 2022 include:
- $4.6 million from the ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Recovery and Resilience Agency for the Retford Park Stormwater Detention Basin Project,
- $3 million from the Department of Planning and Environment for the development of the Bong Bong Common Masterplan,
- $2.5 million from Regional NSW for the Casburn Park Resilience Project in Wingello,
- $1 million from the Office of Local Government for Storm and Flood Recovery Assistance,
- $1 million from Transport for NSW for the School Zone Program, and
- $62,000 per annum for four years from the Department of Environment and Planning towards the Southern Highlands Koala Conservation project.
Council’s General Manager Lisa Miscamble advised that operating and capital grants account for approximately 20 per cent of Council’s annual Operating and Capital Revenue.
“Applying for these all-important funds is often a complex and rigourous process,” she said.
“Council continues to punch above its weight when securing grant funding and I congratulate our staff for preparing strong applications that have secured funds to assist in the delivery of a broad range of projects to support directions in our community strategic plan.”
Mr May said the grant monies secured were testimony to the State and Federal Government’s confidence in Council’s ability to deliver major capital and community improvement projects.
“Council thanks all of our State and Federal Members for their continued support and advocacy of our Shire.”
