Council’s vision for recreation and road improvements tops election wish list

In our ongoing commitment to building healthy, connected, and sustainable communities, Mitchell Shire Council has set its top two priorities for the next Federal Election.

Leading the charge are two transformative projects: the Greenhill Recreation Precinct and a shire-wide roads package. Endorsed at the August Council meeting, these projects are designed to not only improve the quality of life for all residents but also to foster a more connected and resilient community.

Greenhill Recreation Precinct

At the forefront of Council’s election agenda is the Greenhill Recreation Precinct, a visionary project that promises to be a cornerstone of community wellbeing.

Designed to be a premier destination for sports and recreation, this precinct will not only provide state-of-the-art facilities for gymnastics, aquatics, and more but also honour and protect the significant environmental and cultural heritage of the Greenhill Cone.

To make this ambitious project a reality, Federal Government support is crucial.

Mitchell Shire Roads Package

Equally important is Council’s call for a comprehensive shire-wide roads package. The resilience and safety of our road network have never been more critical, especially in the face of recent severe weather events and the pressures of a growing population.

This Federal funding would empower Council to carry out essential upgrades and safety works, ensuring that our roads can meet current and future demands while fostering a safer, more connected community.

These priorities are part of Mitchell Shire Council’s broader advocacy efforts, which focus on creating a vibrant, sustainable future for all. By securing Federal support for these key projects, Council aims to build a stronger, more connected community that thrives for generations to come.
