Council seeking new voices to help guide the Dalby Cultural Centre

Western Downs Regional Council

Dalby Cultural Centre Community Advisory Panel

Council is on the lookout for fresh ideas and youthful perspectives for its Community Advisory Panel (CAP) to help guide and shape the Dalby Cultural Centre project for the future of the town and region.

To assist with sharing two-way information, insights and ideas about the endorsed project, Council is seeking new community members to join the Dalby Cultural Centre CAP through an Expression of Interest (EOI) process.

Western Downs Mayor Andrew Smith said this is an opportunity to introduce new voices to the panel and broaden community representation to reflect the varied cultural interests and aspirations of our region.

“For the past 12 months, Council has been working in close partnership with a selected group of community leaders from the arts, library, cultural, education and business sectors to understand the region’s cultural needs and to inform the

development of the Dalby Cultural Centre project,” Cr Smith said.

“As we enter the next phase of the project, Council is inviting new members to join the panel through the way of expression of interest.

“There are up to 16 positions open to the public, of which three are held for youth representatives. All members will be required to agree to the panel’s Terms of Reference.

“These members will act in representation of our broader community, reflecting their varied interests and aspirations for new and revitalised cultural facilities and experiences in Dalby, as the gateway to the Western Downs.

“The CAP will use their subject matter perspectives to provide ideas and advice around site location, vision and values of the Cultural Centre project and throughout the concept planning process.

“The Dalby Cultural Centre project presents an incredible opportunity to expand our region’s cultural offerings for generations to come and we want to get it right. This is just one of many ways Council is engaging with the community on this exciting project, and we are committed to continuing consultation throughout the entire process.

“We thank everyone who has participated in the consultation to date, and we are excited about the new ways Council will be engaging with the community around this project in the near future.”

Expressions of Interest to join the CAP can be submitted up until Thursday 9 May 2024 at Council’s Have Your Say website.
