Celebrating the NSW Seniors Festival, Wingecarribee Shire Council is excited to host an engaging exhibition honouring the works of our local senior artists. It will be held at the Moss Vale Civic Centre, from Tuesday 5 March through to 5 April 2024, as part of Council’s monthly Atrium Exhibition series.
The NSW Seniors Festival (11th – 24th March 2024) celebrates the roles and contributions of older adults to our local communities. It is the largest of its kind in the southern hemisphere, with over 500,000 people attending each year. This year the theme of the festival is Reach Beyond! (Seniors Festival 2024, Department of Communities and Justice, NSW Government, 2024)
To mark the occasion, the community are invited to a special launch event on Monday 11 March.
Council’s Community Development Officer for Arts and Culture, Caroline Folde, said the exhibition promises to be engaging and thought provoking, and will appeal to all ages and demographics.
“We put a call out to our local senior artists and craftspeople to showcase their talents and have gathered a diverse range of multimedia work that recognises the excellence that comes from years of artistic experience and practise,” said Caroline.
“Our seniors play such an important role in our community, and we are lucky to have so many amazing older people across our shire who still contribute in so many different ways, from volunteering to being amazing role models for all ages,” she added.
For those interested in visiting the exhibition, guided tours can be organised, for small groups, and some artworks are available for purchase.
