Greater Shepparton City Council will receive funding under the Growing Victoria’s Botanic Gardens funding program to assist the supply of potable and raw water to the Australian Botanic Gardens Shepparton.
The Growing Victoria’s Botanic Gardens grants program is a Victorian Government initiative, aimed at enhancing botanic gardens in Victoria.
The Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) is delivering the grants program.
The funding Council will receive will allow the Australian Botanic Gardens Shepparton to connect potable water to the entry point of the gardens, connect a water fountain, raw water storage and access to the mound for irrigation.
Currently, watering of plants is dependent on rainfall and hand watering.
“We look forward to starting this project and continuing to add to the Australian Botanic Gardens Shepparton experience,” Council Director Infrastructure Phil Hoare said.
“Improved supply of water will enhance the garden in many ways, supporting sustainable irrigation of plants and providing amenities for visitors.
“We would like to thank DELWP for its support in the form of the Growing Victoria’s Botanic Gardens funding program.”
