City of Ryde has a number of important initiatives planned in the next few weeks supporting the vital cause of bringing an end to violence against women.

Following the national White Ribbon Day on Friday 17 November – which calls on all Australians to make women’s safety a men’s issue – the international 16 Days of Activism campaign furthers a pledge to end violence against women and girls.

Ryde residents can support both of these extremely important and urgent causes by picking up a free “Let’s come together to end domestic violence and abuse” bin sticker from customer service or by ordering one online and having it sent to you.

City of Ryde Mayor Clr Sarkis Yedelian OAM urged the whole community to become involved in these serious causes.

“Violence against women is a fundamental violation of human rights and should never be tolerated, anywhere in the world,” he said.

“It’s up to all of us to speak up, to educate, and to raise awareness so that the women we love and cherish can live safely, free from the danger that can often lurk so close to home.”
