Toowoomba’s City Hall Annex will glow orange on Friday 18 March to shine a light on bullying and violence.
Toowoomba Region Mayor Paul Antonio said the initiative was in support of the ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Day of Action against Bullying and Violence.
“We’re showing our support alongside many other Queensland Councils by lighting up The Annex in orange to raise awareness about bullying and the devastating effect it has on people of all ages,” he said.
“The ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Day of Action is a really important day in the school calendar.
“It’s a day for schools and communities to take a stand against bullying and violence and find practical solutions to prevent it.
“The theme for this year’s ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Day of Action is ‘Kindness Culture’.
“Everyone has the right to be respected, included and treated with kindness.
“We all have a role to play in preventing bullying.
“Please take the time this Friday to show kindness to those around you. It all starts there.”
In addition to the ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Day of Action, the Queensland Government supports school communities with resources and education about bullying prevention.
