Further improving energy efficiency throughout The Hills Shire, Council has completed a new solar panel project – installing two new systems at its Norwest administration building.
The 126 new solar panels add to the 400 existing panels already installed on the Council building in Norwest. This also contributes to enhancing Council’s solar power network, with 17 solar panel systems located on various Council buildings across The Hills Shire.

“We’ve grown to having a total of 420 kW of solar power across our network, providing even more green energy than ever before,” Mayor of The Hills Shire, Dr Peter Gangemi said.
“This means that approximately an additional 73,000 kWh of clean electricity will be produced per year from the new panels – enough to power 25 electric vehicles every day.
“As well as being environmentally friendly, the solar panels will also reduce our energy bills by approximately $25,000 per year, which means we can spend more money on our community to help our residents to live their very best lives.
“I’m very proud of this project and the energy saving work that this Council is doing to create a more sustainable future,” Mayor Gangemi added.
