Council to consider Proposed Budget

Bass Coast Shire Council will consider the release of its Proposed Budget for 2020/21 at its Ordinary Meeting on Wednesday, 17 June.

The Proposed Budget includes a record capital works program of $28 million and a further $2.8 million in direct relief, to support the community to recover from the impacts of COVID-19

Bass Coast Shire CEO Ali Wastie said that the Proposed Budget is a testament to Council’s strong financial position.

“It responds to what the community have been telling us they want to see continue, ensures all current service levels will be maintained and that much awaited community infrastructure projects will be either in design or will commence construction in the 2020/2012 financial year,” Ms Wastie said.

The Proposed Budget includes a further $2.8 million to alleviate the impacts of COVID-19 on the community over the next 12 months.

“This would provide both direct relief to the community, through initiatives such as freezing fees and charges, rent relief and business and event recovery support, as well as stimulate the local economy, by fast tracking a number of strategic and capital works projects,” Ms Wastie said.

If endorsed, the Proposed Budget will go out for public exhibition and submissions from 22 June to 21 July.

The Bass Coast community is encouraged to watch the Council Meeting live next Wednesday, 17 June. The stream can be accessed from 11.00am at .
