Council to host HSC Study Sessions with difference

Wingecarribee Shire

Wingecarribee Shire Council is inviting Year 12 students preparing for their end of year exams to join them for a different quality study option.

Council’s Library Services and Community Development Teams have joined forces to host a series of HSC Study Sessions starting early October.

The week-long program will allow Year 12 students to have sole access to designated study areas within Council’s Bowral and Moss Vale Library precincts between 9.30am and 4.30pm from Tuesday 4 to Tuesday 11 October 2022.

Council’s Coordinator of Library Services Andrew White said the program provided an opportunity for students to mix up their study routine.

“Libraries provide the perfect environment for study,” he said. “Some students find that they need time out from possible interruptions when studying at home, while others find that the group study environment provides extra focus.”

Mr White said students taking part in this year’s program could also expect a welcome distraction.

“We all know that final exams can be a bit nerve-racking,” he said. “To help reduce the stress we’ve invited some special four-legged friends to visit the students courtesy of Council’s Youth Program and PAWS Pet Therapy.”

The therapy dogs will visit the facilities a couple of times during this week and will be available to anyone who would like to take a short break from their study.

Council staff will also be on hand to supervise and assist students with study notes and free refreshments.

Special ‘Study Show Bags’ will also be provided to the first 100 attendees.

The Bowral Library Study Sessions will take place within the Henrietta Rose Room located adjacent to the library while the Moss Vale sessions will be held directly outside of the library in the Civic Centre Theatrette.
