City of Parramatta Lord Mayor Cr Bob Dwyer has announced Epping Aquatic Centre and library click-and-collect will reopen next week, in line with the NSW Government’s easing of COVID-19 restrictions.
“We know how much people have missed doing some of their favourite activities, and the COVID-safe reopening of our valuable facilities like pools and library services will significantly improve the health and wellbeing of our community,” Cr Dwyer said.
Pools
Epping Aquatic Centre reopens on Monday 27 September with specific health and safety conditions in place, including social distancing requirements (one person per four square metres) and QR code check-in. Check the Council website for details. The centre is registered as a COVID Safe facility.
Council is currently in discussions with the NSW Department of Education for the safe reopening of Macarthur Girls High School Pool in Parramatta.
Library Services
Council libraries at Carlingford, Constitution Hill, Dundas, Epping, Ermington and Parramatta, as well as the Wentworth Point Community Centre and Library, will restart click-and-collect services.
Library members will be able to reserve items online, by email, or over the phone from Monday 27 September and collect their orders when notified from Wednesday 29 September. Members can also return items via the return chutes from Monday 27 September.
The Book Vending Machine at Wentworth Point and the ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Library Service, which delivers books to eligible residents unable to leave their homes, will also be operating from Wednesday 29 September.
The libraries are registered as COVID Safe facilities, and specific health and safety conditions apply such as QR code check-in.
Water Play Parks
Council is preparing to reopen its water play parks by early October, once water quality testing has been completed and a COVID-19 Safety Plan has been put in place.
Its three water play parks are located at Ollie Webb Reserve in Parramatta, James Ruse Reserve in Harris Park, and Philip Ruddock Water Playground in Dundas Valley.
Council is closely following Federal and NSW Government advice about the operation and reopening of its facilities and will continue to provide updates through its social media and website.
“While we are excited to be able to open some facilities to our residents again, it’s crucial that we continue to follow the public health orders to help reduce the risk of COVID-19 spreading in our community,” Cr Dwyer said.
