Council Welcomes Extra School Bus Services

The City of Casey welcomes the State Government’s announcement to provide new school bus services from the beginning of the 2025 school year.

From 29 January, a new bus service will commence, connecting students in Smiths Lane Estate, Clyde North to the new Wulerrp Secondary College on Soldiers Road, Clyde North.

From Term 2, another bus service will be added, connecting students in the Smiths Lane and St Germain Estates to Kambrya Secondary College, Berwick.

Minor changes are also being made to the existing school special services in the area to provide additional capacity for students attending Clyde Secondary College, Clyde.

Mayor of the City of Casey Cr Stefan Koomen said Council recognises that its growing population needs more investment than ever before.

‘The extra services and changes will provide more students along these routes with better access to public transport to get to and from school,’ Cr Koomen said.

‘Our current population of more than 400,000 residents is forecast to grow to more than 550,000 by 2041. The City of Casey is committed to advocating the Australian and Victorian Governments for the critical projects and services our community needs.

‘Accessible public transport for our community is essential. During the 2023/24 financial year, we continued to advocate for infrastructure and service investments to support our growing community.

‘We were also pleased to hear that the Victorian Government’s Growth Areas Infrastructure Contribution (GAIC) funding has been allocated for an extended bus service on Bells Road, and a bus service extension to Clyde North via Hardys Road.

‘Council will continue to advocate for more buses to run more frequently to connect our city’s growing communities.’
