Flood-impacted residents of Mitchell Shire are set to receive additional support through a newly announced temporary accommodation program aimed at assisting displaced community members.
Mitchell Shire Council welcomed the announcement today of the Homes at Home program, offering much-needed temporary accommodation to residents whose properties were impacted by the October 2022 flood event.
The announcement was made by Minister for Emergency Services Jaclyn Symes, during a visit to the Recovery Hub in Seymour today.
Minister Symes shared details of the program which provides temporary accommodation units to flood-affected community members as they rebuild and recover.
The initiative, managed by Emergency Recovery Victoria, allows displaced property owners to stay on their property while undergoing essential home repairs.
The Homes at Home program is primarily intended for homeowners whose primary residences were made uninhabitable due to flood damage.
The program will prioritise those residents who lacked flood insurance and are dealing with financial struggles. An evaluation will be performed on the properties of applicants to verify their eligibility for the program.
