EHO image.png

Shoalhaven food businesses could potentially receive multiple inspections over the next six months with compliance inspections now being conducted by both Council and officers from other state agencies.

For the past two months Council Environmental Health Officers have been out inspecting cafes, takeaways and restaurants advising of the updated regulatory requirements under COVID and providing assistance wherever possible.

By now, all Shoalhaven food premises must have a registered Covid-19 Safety Plan specific to their business in accordance with the NSW Health Order (see ).

Businesses are also encouraged to complete the free, voluntary that is now available to support food businesses in providing a COVID safe environment. The training has been developed by the NSW Food Authority with NSW Health for anyone working in NSW food retail and food service businesses and covers key measures recommended for COVID-19 control.

Key topics addressed include:

• COVID-19 Introduction and background

• Infection, signs and symptoms

• Self-protective measures

• Protective measures for premises and personal hygiene

• Cleaning and sanitation practices

• Social distancing measures

• Record keeping.

The course is self-guided and will take approximately 20 minutes to complete. There is a 20-question multiple-choice quiz at the end. This COVID-19 awareness for food service training course aims to provide useful information to help all food businesses understand the changes that have come into effect and what they need to do.
