COVID-19 UPDATE - Council to pay all outstanding invoices within 7 days

Ararat Rural City Council has introduced a seven-day turn around on all invoices under measures introduced to help local business maintain cash flow during COVID-19 restrictions.

Ararat Rural City Council CEO Dr Tim Harrison said Council felt for local businesses who have had to shut or modify their operations under the restrictions.

“This is one small way Council can help our local businesses during this extremely difficult time,” he said.

“If your business has provided Council with goods or services recently and you have not done so already, please send in your invoice as soon as you can and we will process it within seven days.”

Dr Harrison reminded residents of Council’s COVID-19 service arrangements, that included some closures of services and modifications to others, but he stressed Council staff are still working and are here for the community.

Full details of all service arrangements are on the Ararat Rural City Council’s website – – click on the link on the home page.

The measures, which are in place until further notice, aim to help ensure the health and safety of the community and prevent the spread of the COVID-19.

Dr Harrison said it was paramount for the Council to do its part in protecting the health and welfare of residents.

“Council has been continually working with State and Federal Government agencies, the Municipal Association of Victoria (MAV) and the East Grampians Health Service to update our response to the pandemic as things progress,” he said.

“Council will continue to take the advice of experts and officials and will take the necessary steps to protect our community, our staff members and volunteers.

“The State and Federal Governments have instigated a very well-coordinated public health response to COVID-19. I encourage the community to keep informed about the virus through official government channels, which are the most accurate source of information.”
