This data portal was developed and maintained by Stats NZ. It reported on economic, environmental, and social aspects of COVID-19’s impact on New Zealand and its recovery.
The COVID-19 Data Portal is no longer operational and officially closed on Thursday 22 August 2024.
This decision to close the portal was based on several factors:
- Declining usage: User engagement had steadily decreased, reflecting a reduced demand for the resource.
- Changing needs: With the end of COVID-19 restrictions in Aotearoa New Zealand, the need for customised COVID-19 data products decreased.
- Resource optimisation: By closing the portal we’re able to reallocate resources to other areas, improving our overall service delivery and ensuring we continue to provide high-quality, valuable information to New Zealanders.
