Box Rallies funds the highest ranked national research programs after the Government, as listed and vetted by Australia’s Cancer Research community from the ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC). Funding via the NHMRC is a Cancer Council initiative and they assist in distributing the funds so all Australians benefit.
The impact of COVID-19 in 2020 and 2021 has made it particularly difficult for teams to fundraise and Box Rallies has seen its expected fundraising total for the period cut by as much as $7.2 million. Rallies are the reward for raising vital funds for cancer research but when the reward is unable to take place the fundraising slows considerably.
James Freeman, Founder of Box Rallies said today that not rallying has had a dramatic impact on cancer research projects nationally and he was looking for other ways to ensure that these vital funds can still be realised.
“With the support of Cancer Council, we have added Cancer Cruise to our stable of events to help recoup the lost funds and hope that over the next five years we will see Box Rallies recover the lost $7.2 million” James said.
The Cruise is a family friendly one day event that will happen in 20+ locations across the country on 6 March 2022. We hope that people from all over Australia will join us to ‘Cruise for Cancer’ and fundraise to have a direct impact on the success of cancer research.
We are about funding the best Cancer research projects with the best chance of positive results in Australia.”
