Preventative measures against COVID-19 include:
- wearing facemasks indoors and outdoors when physical distancing is not available
- getting a full COVID-19 vaccination, including a booster shot when it is available to you
- only attending events or gatherings if they are outside and keeping 1.5 metres from people who are not in your group
- not attending events or gatherings if you are unwell
- getting tested for COVID if you are symptomatic or a close contact of a positive case
What is a close contact?
In South Australia, a close contact is considered as:
- a household member or intimate partner
- someone who has had close personal interaction with a COVID-19 case during their infectious period
- a person who has been notified by SA Health that they are a close contact with a COVID-19 case
- a person who has been at an exposure site during the exposure period for that site.
SA Health advises that Close Personal Interactions are defined as:
- lasting 15 minutes or longer,
- where masks are not worn by the COVID-19 case and the other person,
- are held in close proximity,
- occur indoors.
