Council is responding to an active outbreak of COVID-19 at the Yallambee Lodge residential aged care facility in Cooma.
The first residents tested positive to COVID-19 on the evening of Wednesday 22 November 2023. Council immediately enacted Yallambee Lodge’s Outbreak Management Plan to limit the outbreak and protect residents, staff and the public.
Six residents and five staff have so far tested positive for COVID-19.
Visitation is still permitted at this time, with visitors required to adhere to the requirements set out under the relevant aged care industry codes and the Yallambee Lodge Outbreak Management Plan.
Any person visiting the facility must wear a facemask and return a negative result on a rapid antigen test (RAT), before admission to Yallambee Lodge will be granted.
Visitors who have been ill or infected with any respiratory illness within seven days of their visit will not be permitted entry.
The NSW Public Health Unit was notified first thing this morning, as per reporting requirements for incidents of this kind.
Staff, visitors and residents are undergoing RAT testing daily. Residents that have tested positive are to date experiencing only mild symptoms, with medical treatment being provided on-site. No residents have required transfer to hospital.
Council has commenced discussions with the NSW Public Health Unit to seek staffing support to address shortages resulting from the current outbreak.
