Northern Territory Police remind motorists that there are no backroads into the Territory.
It is a continued condition of entry into the NT that all travellers lodge a border entry form.
A number of travellers continue to try to avoid the rules by sneaking in over ‘unmanned’ remote roads. This morning, police in Lake Nash near the Queensland border issued five fines to travellers who did not comply with the Chief Health Officer’s Directions.
Acting Superintendent Crispin Gargan said, “NT Police continue to conduct operations into remote areas of the NT to ensure compliance with CHO Directions is maintained.
“If you are found to have breached these directions you will be fined.”
The penalty for failing to abide by the Chief Health Officer’s Directions issued under section 56 of the Public and Environment Health Act 2011 is $5024 for an individual (32 penalty units) and $25,120 for a business (160 penalty units).
Anyone intending to travel to the Northern Territory must ensure they comply with the rules outlined on .
